Java 2 Micro Edition offers a strong and flexible environment for developing applications for consumer devices such as mobile phones, PDAs. Today, it has been deployed on millions of devices worldwide and is strongly supported by vendors, globally.
It offers an optimized VM (virtual machine) which can be used to run Java applications on various devices ranging from resource constrained devices like pagers, mobile phones, and smart cards to high end devices like set top boxes and handheld computers.
The SCMAD (Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer) for the J2ME Version 1.0 certification exam is for programmers and developers who are using J2ME technologies to develop mobile applications for Java enabled devices like mobile phones.
Keeping in mind, the limitations of the mobile devices (in size and in memory), the JCP (Java Community Process) has developed a series of standards constructed in a modular fashion to ensure that various features are standardized and at the same time, the architecture is kept at an abstract level.
So, if you are into developing applications for mobile devices or an experienced J2SE/J2EE professional, or even a novice aiming to gain proficiency in the latest and upcoming mobile technologies, SCMAD certification is for you.
